5 time Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave has accepted the roll of President of BASI (British Assocation of Snowsports Instructors) the UK governing body for snowsports instruction.

Sir Steve commented: “I have always enjoyed my skiing since my first trip as a 11 year old. In theory I wasn’t allowed to ski whilst I was a competitive rower, but sneaked away on an annual basis. Since my retirement at the 2000 Olympics I have been able to ski a lot more. I also have taken my BASI 1 instructors so extremely honoured to be asked to become President of the British Association of Snowsport Instructors. I am looking forward to the role".

IN reposnce BASI Chairman, Gareth Roberts commented, "It is a great honour to have Sir Steve associated with BASI as our Honorary President. As one of the greatest British Olympic athletes, we look forward to his involvement in the Association along with the support and encouragement he can provide to our members. This is a truly proud moment in BASI's 50th anniversary year".
